Creative Support Work in Cairns – Model Boat Adventures and More

Hi, I'm Nicolette – an independent support worker based in Gordonvale, just south of Cairns. For the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of supporting one of my clients through a series of creative, hands-on projects designed to build confidence, spark imagination, and build problem-solving.

One of our current projects has been a standout: we’ve been building a model fishing trawler using a mix of wooden and other materials, creative thinking, and a very loose set of plans. It’s been a fun and stimulating challenge that’s involved problem-solving, patience, and a healthy dose of teamwork. No two sessions are ever the same, and that’s part of what makes this work so rewarding.

Of course, we’ve also had the ongoing support of our honorary supervisor – my client’s dog – who brings the enthusiasm (and demands the snacks).

As a creative support worker in Cairns, I specialise in providing person-centred support that integrates art, design, and creativity into everyday life. Whether you're an NDIS participant looking for creative support options or a carer seeking unique disability services in the region, I offer one-on-one sessions tailored to your individual interests and needs.

All sessions take place at my fully equipped art and design studio in Gordonvale, where we can explore a wide range of activities – from visual arts and model making to craft, design, and more. These sessions can be social, therapeutic, skill-building, or just a chance to explore something new in a relaxed and supportive environment.
