Creating Gekkodek Website – Creative Support

I wanted to share a really exciting project that one of my clients and I have been working on for a while now. He’s an incredibly talented artist and photographer who had a brilliant idea to put his artwork onto grip tape for electric skateboards and skateboards. That idea became Gekkodek.

Over the past year, we've worked side by side to bring that vision to life. Together, we’ve developed his brand identity and built a full Shopify website from scratch. He’s created over 100 original grip tape designs, with more than 40 of them already available to buy on his website.

This project has been such a rewarding experience, not just creatively, but also in terms of skill-building and independence. It’s been a chance for my client to explore how his art can be turned into a viable business, while also learning the digital and practical tools needed to get there, from branding and file setup to website management.

All of the artwork and ideas are his. I’ve just had the privilege of supporting the process, helping with the design elements and technical side so that everything could come to life in the way he imagined.

You can check out his work and shop the grip tapes at gekkodek.com

Projects like this are what I love most about creative support work. I offer one-on-one, studio-based sessions out of Gordonvale (just outside of Cairns), where I work with NDIS participants to support creative goals, build small business ideas, or just explore new tools and ways to express themselves.

If you or someone you support is looking for creative disability support in the Cairns region, feel free to reach out. You can contact me at

Hope you’re all having a great week ahead – Nic
